I love newborn yawn faces. I think the way a baby yawns gives you a glimpse into their teenage years

Having two little children at home all. the. time. has been hard while also trying to also get this business off the ground– phone calls are impossible; and I am screamed at while trying to construct emails that make me appear literate. So I whined discussed this with my wonderful husband who happens to deal with customer service all day–and is REALLY good at it. So now when you email or call Aimee Buxton Photography, you will be speaking with my super nice and super smart and super efficient hubby! And sometimes he will tag along to assist me on outdoor shoots. Newborn shoots will still be an intimate setting with just me.
Brian likes new foods and chefs (like me!), knitting (not like me!), and is a huge tech nerd. He is the one that got into film photography while I was rolling my eyes and talking about film being dead. Obviously, he won me over.

We also redid my pricing and structure of the business as well! I think the whole process will be a lot smoother now. So excited! Brian redid my session guide PDF that I send out and it looks great! …there are no more grammar mistakes. <blushing>.

One of my best friends had a baby! Again! The first time, I was there all night, but she had to have a c-section. The next time, I was supposed to support her through a VBAC; but as I got there, they were wheeling her back for a repeat cesarean. Third time’s the charm, right? She scheduled her cesarean since all doctors say no way to a VBAC at that point. And I planned to be there for photos afterwards. She ended up going into labor before the appointment and I was out of town. She called me crying with happiness, saying she had had a VBAC right there in the OR.
This fourth time, I was determined that I would see a Henderson baby born. And FINALLY it happened. I was a nasty, blubbery mess the whole time.

Even though Daddy is also a photographer, they honored me with letting me do a newborn session with Emma. What is better than hanging out with your friend and playing with a pretty, new baby?

I photographed this gorgeous family on a beautiful night with lots of bugs. Isn’t this little boy the sweetest thing ever!? He will be an amazing big brother!

And what a cute couple <3

What a sweet angel Little V was. Thank you to the A family for letting me cuddle her for a couple hours!

I love film. I cannot wait until I am consistently rocking it! But it ALWAYS rocks me to the core. I get teary and sweaty when I look at each new scan. You don’t get that thrill with a CF card.
These are all Portra 400 or Ektar 100.

“Mommy, take my picture! I will wear your scarf.” When I heard that yesterday evening, I RAN to turn on my lighting and get a CF card into my camera. I didn’t adjust the lights or backdrop which were all still set up for a little baby. I didn’t close the blinds that were pouring golden dappled lighting on to the scene. I just wanted a quick snap of my daughter actually looking at me–but she gave me so much more.
And she has now been officially in panties for a week! No more diapers! I like her.

Another sweet baby came for his close up–my first boy in a long time! We had such a great time and even went outside for some photos! Thanks for sharing T with me! He was amazing!
And isn’t his mama so beautiful? I think this was my favorite from that morning.

Little Baby S was the first newborn to come to my home for a session. And the first that I used studio lighting with. I discovered that I LOVE having controlled lighting in a newborn session. And I love moving my light around instead of the beanbag to achieve those perfect shadows across an itty bitty face. She was the perfect model too– she slept like a baby! I definitely am convinced that doing these type of sessions in my own space is best. That huge beanbag doesn’t even fit in my car! I cannot wait to put hardwood in and paint. Then I can have bigger babies and kids have sessions in there when it is just too cold out.

Look at that face!

And her beautiful family. Isn’t her big sister GORGEOUS!?

I got a new toy (a light meter) and told Delilah to play. Then I just shot. 36images. 2 settings. How freeing!!!
What a difference in using pro film and being (pretty) sure of my settings.
These are all straight out of the camera and scanned by my lab. No fiddling on the computer!
