One of my best friends had a baby! Again! The first time, I was there all night, but she had to have a c-section. The next time, I was supposed to support her through a VBAC; but as I got there, they were wheeling her back for a repeat cesarean. Third time’s the charm, right? She scheduled her cesarean since all doctors say no way to a VBAC at that point. And I planned to be there for photos afterwards. She ended up going into labor before the appointment and I was out of town. She called me crying with happiness, saying she had had a VBAC right there in the OR.
This fourth time, I was determined that I would see a Henderson baby born. And FINALLY it happened. I was a nasty, blubbery mess the whole time.

Even though Daddy is also a photographer, they honored me with letting me do a newborn session with Emma. What is better than hanging out with your friend and playing with a pretty, new baby?

What a beautiful day yesterday was! My son loved showing off his first real word (cheese!) and my daughter just wanted to pretend she was a Top Model. This was between ugly cheesy model grins she learned from “Good Luck, Charlie” haha. And my son was ever the mommy’s little helper–18% grey cards make an excellent prop.
**That card is something I use to help ensure your portraits are always the right colors and the right brightness. I may get a little creative with edits sometimes, but I want your skin to look human!
Also, PLEASE send in your photos, so you can win a free session with me! I know you guys want a free file too!
And check out the model call under the Promotions tab. You may qualify to just hang out with me and get some free pics out of it!

So, I let the project fall to the wayside. My typical m.o. I get a bit disorganized, miss a day doing something, get overwhelmed, and just let it go forever.
This project got overwhelming when I was supposed to take a photo of staying in. Well, my husband isn’t home during the pretty light. So I skipped a day. (Here is Archie and I staying in today.)
17:

Then we were supposed to go out and have a stranger snap a picture of us in auto mode. Date night? HAH! Let a stranger touch my camera? HAH! auto mode? no such thing. So, here is Delilah as Brian (see the beard?) and me out on a date.
18:

Day 19 was “when they’re gone”. This was just pure laziness. I hadn’t done 17 & 18, so I wasn’t going to skip! The horror!
When my kids are gone, we make the food actually taste good to us. With these things–and more. And then I still have to add in more chili. Because brian is a wuss.
19:

And “When they’re here” there is a lot of tantrums. I like to email with my clients, so they cannot hear the screams.
20:

My babies’ “hands.”
21:

And TODAY’s! I am all caught up!
A face. Just a PORTRAIT of my daughter. And the attempts to get a non-creepy one.

It was so cold out that day, but this session was still a dream. These little girls were never quite happy at the same time, but I still got some delightful moments with both of them. I loved the textures and bright colors they were wearing, and mama even brought a gorgeous quilt. I am on a search for one like it for me!
A cold photo shoot is never quite comfortable, but it is also amazing because the moments you capture while kids snuggle up to their parents trying to get warm are simply magical.

I chose the one time to try a portrait with Archie that he *didn’t* want to nurse! So here I am forcing him to sit with me for one second…(1/200 of a second). I thought I would get a beautiful nursing portrait. HA.
Oh well, he is still super cute.

My Loves’ Eyes.
Archie at 14 months.
Delilah at 3 years 3 months.
Brian at a lot of months.

We live with my parents, so Delilah and Archie have a special bond with Nana and Pap Pap (My dad always wanted to be Ole Pappy.) Archie saw Nana and immediately unlatched from nursing and raised his arms to be lifted up and cuddled.
Delilah is away for the weekend right now at Brian’s parents house. She loves going there and usually cries when we meet to pick her up.

Archie LOVES Kitten (we are very literal animal namers). Kitten is not too interested in Archie. Except when she is in heat–we are obsessive with keeping her indoors all the time–then she loves EVERYONE. He loves to chase her around “gently” patting her on the back while squealing with joy.
My daughter is terrified of the cat and runs AWAY from Kitten screaming, “Kitten gonna bit my toes!!!” So she was not in this photo.

My daughter has a uniform– leggings and a dress. On days when her dresses are all dirty (or clean, but still in hampers, like today) I convince her to wear a shirt with her leggings. But she always ends up wearing some sort of princess/fairy attire at some point. Today, she is a fairy with rainbow wings and a rainbow wand. And she would not stay still enough to give my camera a good look. She was too busy flying.
My husband is never here for the good light, but I wanted to show off an example of his own after work/weekend uniform. A grey sweatshirt. He got most of them in college, and I have always loved snuggling with him while he wears one. Super comfy. I am usually just snuggling with the sweatshirt and letting him *think* I wanted him. Archie was just as amazing to snuggle with in this UCONN sweatshirt, but he wasn’t into not having use of his legs and arms.

I had always planned to do this every month, but here is the third time I felt like going through the stress of not having a remote. (yes, I got one for Christmas. no, I do not know where it is.)
So this time I grabbed my sister and sat her in front of the tripod. If my sister ever becomes a photographer, I think her gimmick will be that everything is horribly out of focus–and not on purpose.
Brian and I do not have a lot of pictures of the two of us–and he isn’t here when it is light out much anyway. Archie is the best subject I have. And that is why he is my favorite (Joking!)
Ta Da! How my Baby Archie has grown from January 2010 to February 2011. Almost exactly a year. Then and Now.
