My entire life revolves around photos. Something never really happened unless I have a beautiful photo of it. So having amazing portraits of my kids on their birthdays is all I ever expect of the day. I went and bought a special outfit and set up a specific time for just Delilah and I–plus my husband to wrangle her.

Well, as all best laid plans go… chocolate pancakes turned into having to wash and dry her outfit, which then fell apart in the wash. We were already an hour past schedule, but I figured I could at least get a few photos at Golden Hour. We rushed to get ready and I realized I hadn’t fully dried her dress–she gets to wear a wet dress in the cold! We rush over to the park, but get rear ended on the way. It ends up being a hit and run and we have to file a report with the police. We finally get to the park a few minutes before closing and the sun is gone. Delilah is not into photos–she just wants to go get some birthday ice cream and only wants to look at her daddy–the one without the camera!

But I am happy with what I got. Even with the ruined, wet outfit–lack of eye contact–and darkness. She was beautiful, happy, and THREE!
