Review of a pretty awesome book, yo.

Posted on April 16, 2013

My review of Gather by Bill Staley and Hayley Mason is up at the Paleo Parents blog!

I mention my normal way of cooking in it… (I don’t usually fry things). So, here’s a pic of a recent week night dinner. Applegate Farms little weenie things and sauteed brussels sprouts with bacon. This is the dish that got my kid to like bacon (And now there is never enough for me anymore.)

I fail at being a blogger.

Posted on April 11, 2013

We have finally reached that part of the year when me sitting at my desk is a huge bummer! Of course, I didn’t start blogging again while it was cold and I sat at my desk with a heater shivering away all day. Oh no, I started it when the weather reached 80 and I decided being inside is lame. (My shoulders are bright red after a playdate–Also, I got steak on said playdate.)

we’re loving this weather

Fittest in the world, baby! 1,827th in the Midatlantic Region. I’ll take it. I was so afraid of getting a zero and being disqualified! Oh,and my box did pretty okay too ;) Number 1 in Midatlantic!

I’m a dork.

75lbs. Thought that was hard.

Really hard.

Then they were like, O Hai. 95lbs now.  65lb thrusters were pretty effing awful too. Loved every minute.

Totes Famous Now.

Posted on April 6, 2013

Eff. One of my besties, Stacy, shared this blog on her facebook page. Now I have to keep blogging.I’ll also have to sort through my 2k spam comments about Louis Vuitton, sexy webcams and SEO. (I’m really lazy adept at avoiding stress.)

I am picky about pretty light on food. But my husband gets home from work/Crossfit at 7:30 each night, so I always seem to cook and eat in the dark. Good thing summer is coming! I’ll get rid of my winter rash and have a tan and all will be right with the world. (Even a Skintervention couldn’t fix my winter skin.)

I also hurt my wrist RXing all the Crossfit open workouts twice… FYI, you need a good wrist for Crossfit AND yoga.  And I have a cold. I’ve pretty much been in my house feeling sorry for myself all week. My friend offered to make me pho, but somehow I ended up making her a fried pork chop and Cheeseslave’s brown butter carrot puree (which is the best thing in this whole world btw.)

She liked it. (her pic)

Food, Glorious Food

Posted on April 6, 2013

I never formally announced not being in business anymore. I took my contact info down and was waiting until I had delivered all my outstanding (meaning totes amazeballs, of course) orders. But I somehow ended up with an amazing job last year and I got sidetracked.

I took pictures of a lot of yummy food. And then I got to take half home with me.

Somehow, I now live in some weird universe where I am the only I know NOT a hugely successful cookbook writer (okay, hyperbole. kind of.)

Anyway, I did this with them. And this blog is probably going to get a lot more food focused. And personal. Since human clients are no longer my bag. I am also going to revert back to my normal way of writing–which uses a lot of ellipses and parentheses.  Also, I don’t always use my Big Nikon. Usually, it’s just my iPhone.

Tonight I ate this…

Scared away yet?

Last year, I did bunny ears. This year… creeptastic lamb masks! These were taken in between the Easter egg hunt and the pinata (I broke it this year! ME!) at our Aunt’s house.

I had the privilege of working with Jewel Hair Design, Le Mariee Makeup Artistry, and Scott Henderson last week to help Julie Flury of Jewel Hair Design debut her new hair designer, Kirsten Eike. I even got to model a bit myself AND got into my wedding dress after 5 years (w00t!)

It was amazing being pampered for the shoot. I cannot stress enough the value of hair and makeup being done professionally before you get in front of the camera. I would love to offer it for new moms who wish to be in portraits with their newborns!

“Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress.” – Coco Chanel

Delilah in my handmade and restored vintage gown. circa 1968. I wore it in 2005.

This is an excellent an idea for a special session for your own daughter.
